SÜLZLE Stahlpartner expands external warehouse

Investment at Lübeck Nordlandkai

29.02.2024

SÜLZLE Stahlpartner is investing heavily in the Lübeck site and is expanding its storage capacity with a new external warehouse at Nordlandkai. Following the initial plans for a new reinforcing steel warehouse, the existing buildings and outdated facilities were dismantled in 2022 in order to start construction in 2023. In addition to an overhead crane, the company is investing in new office and social areas and modern plant technology on the site. Completion is planned for summer 2024.

The impressive new crane system measures 153 metres in length and 8 metres in height. The total span is 32 metres. The crane is equipped with two hoists, each of which can lift up to 10 tonnes. It is used to transport reinforcing steel of different thicknesses and lengths. To prevent uncontrolled swinging of the suspended load during handling, the overhead cranes are equipped with load stabilisation and sway damping. SÜLZLE relies on innovative magnetic lifting technology to transport loads weighing several tonnes.

SÜLZLE Stahlpartner supplies construction projects ranging from single-family homes to large construction sites and is one of the largest reinforcement steel dealers and bending companies in Germany. The new external warehouse at Lübeck’s Nordlandkai is strategically located to enable efficient and fast transport of goods for construction companies, industry and trade businesses from the region as well as for the company’s own bending operations.

The company also operates a state-of-the-art, digitalised bending shop in Hall 93. Up to 250 tonnes of reinforcing steel per day are processed on around 10,000 square metres, as well as reinforcing mesh and other components.

“In 2019, SÜLZLE made a conscious decision in favour of the port area and cooperation with the Lübeck Port Company. This simplifies and speeds up procurement and reduces the CO2 footprint at the same time.”
