Closing the gap to four lanes

29.01.2024

A motorway project is being built between Fritzlar and the Ohmtal motorway junction in a public-private partnership. STRABAG Großprojekte GmbH is working in a consortium (ARGE) with LEONHARD WEISS GmbH & Co. KG, STRABAG Großprojekte GmbH and LEONHARD WEISS GmbH & Co. KG are responsible for the new construction of an approximately 31 km long section of the BAB 49 from Schwalmstadt to the BAB 5. In addition to the four-lane gap closure in concrete construction, the contract of the ARGE partners also includes the adaptation of the BAB 5 over approx. 1.5 km in the area of the Ohmtal triangle as well as the entire infrastructure around the route. The SÜLZLE Stahlpartner branch in Nordhausen is supplying the A49 project with 21,000 tonnes of reinforcing steel. The motorway is expected to be opened to traffic in autumn 2024.
