5,500 m3 of timber and 170 tons of bored pile cages

Germany’s highest wooden house

The tallest wooden building in Germany is being built in Hamburg’s HafenCity. The 65-meter-high “ROOTS” will comprise 18 floors and 181 apartments. The German Wildlife Foundation is also in the house with an exhibition center on nature conservation and wildlife.

To ensure that the sustainable tower construction also sets new standards in terms of stability and fire protection, the ground floor, basement and access cores are made of concrete and steel. For the deep foundation of the concrete footings, SÜLZLE Stahlpartner was contracted by Ed. ZÜBLIN AG to supply 170 tons of bored pile cages up to 20 meters long. It’s good to know that SÜLZLE quality ensures a firm hold in the Nordic harbor sand.
