Progress on the Fehmarn Belt Tunnel
Steel for Europe’s new connection
The Fehmarn Belt Tunnel, one of Europe’s most important infrastructure projects, is making great progress. The tunnel portal near Puttgarden is growing steadily. Final work is currently being carried out on the Danish tunnel portal: the tunnel section built on land on Lolland is being covered with earth. This means that the Danish entrance to the Fehmarn Belt Tunnel is almost complete.
The in-situ tunnel structure on the German side is being supplied with around 15,000 tonnes of reinforcing steel from the Lübeck branch of SÜLZLE Stahlpartner. The steel is being used in the tunnel portals and other construction sections that have to meet the highest standards of quality and durability.
The project is a prime example of successful cooperation: more than 160 German companies, many of them from Schleswig-Holstein, are involved. Together, they are creating an efficient connection between Germany and Denmark that will significantly reduce travel times and promote economic development.
SÜLZLE Stahlpartner is proud to contribute its expertise and make an important contribution to this forward-looking construction project for Femern Link Contractors, the main contractor for Femern A/S.
