Roots Wooden House – Hamburg HafenCity

Hamburg

Germany’s tallest wooden house

The tallest wooden house in Germany is being built in Hamburg’s HafenCity. The 65-metre-high “ROOTS” comprises 18 floors and 181 apartments as well as the German Wildlife Foundation with an exhibition centre on nature conservation and wildlife.

To ensure that sustainable tower construction also sets new standards in terms of stability and fire protection, the ground floor and basement as well as access cores are made of concrete and steel. For the deep foundation of the concrete foundations, SÜLZLE Stahlpartner was commissioned by Ed. ZÜBLIN AG to supply 170 tonnes of bored pile cages up to 20 metres long. It’s good to know that SÜLZLE quality ensures a firm grip in the Nordic harbour sand.
