The combined tunnel in Karlsruhe
The combined solution in Karlsruhe, which was approved by a referendum in 2002, comprises 2.4 km of tram tunnel under Kaiserstraße, 1 km at the southern branch into Ettlinger Straße and the reconstruction of Kriegsstraße with 1.6 km of road tunnel and a new tram route above this tunnel. The relocation of the trams will significantly reduce congestion and create a new cityscape. SÜLZLE Stahlpartner is supplying around 19,000 tonnes of reinforcing steel for this major project, which in turn is being installed by SÜLZLE Armierungstechnik.
