A modern urban neighbourhood at the historic Ostravorwerk in Dresden

Dresden

SÜLZLE Stahlpartner supplies reinforcement for residential construction involving renovation in accordance with heritage conservation guidelines

In the Friedrichstadt district of Dresden, the site of the former Ostravorwerk has been undergoing redevelopment since spring 2024 to become a multi-purpose urban quarter. The site has a long history: as an agricultural estate, it once supplied the Electoral Court. Today, a complex of buildings is taking shape here that draws on historical references and combines them with contemporary architecture. The developer is Quarterback Immobilien AG, based in Leipzig, and completion of the entire project is scheduled for June 2027.

In total, the project comprises twelve buildings with a floor area of over 9,800 m². Alongside seven residential blocks with high-quality fittings, two office buildings and a nursery are being constructed. In addition, two listed existing buildings are undergoing extensive renovation. The focus is on preserving architecturally significant elements such as cross vaults, roof structures and design-defining details.

The first two construction phases, comprising more than 258 residential units, were completed on schedule in February 2025. The third construction phase is currently at the structural shell stage and will provide a further 36 flats and around 7,000 m² of office space. Completion is scheduled for mid-2027.

For the construction phases already completed, SÜLZLE Stahlpartner Dessau-Roßlau supplied large quantities of reinforcing steel on behalf of Dressler Bau GmbH. Between April 2024 and June 2026, around 3,870 tonnes of reinforcing steel and 144 tonnes of mesh were delivered.
