SÜLZLE Stahlpartner supplies reinforcing steel for pioneering new clinic building

Ortenau 2030 – The future of health

01.10.2024

A major infrastructure project is taking shape in Achern: Ortenau Klinikum is building a modern hospital campus on a 20-hectare site, which will include a medical centre, a nursing school and other facilities in addition to the main building. Excavation work began on the future clinic site at the ‘Brachfeld’ location at the beginning of March 2024. The excavation pit for the new clinic building was dug over an area of 12,000 square metres. A temporary lowering of the groundwater level using gravity wells is also required for the construction of the main building. Concrete work began in April, followed by the laying of the underground pipes and the foundations for the main building and the service yard.

This major project sets standards in terms of energy efficiency. The new building will meet the highest building efficiency standard ‘BEG 40’. By utilising district heating and innovative construction methods, the new hospital will make a significant contribution to climate protection. SÜLZLE Stahlpartner will make an important contribution to this future-oriented project. Since March 2024, SÜLZLE Stahlpartner from Dornstetten has been supplying around 4,400 tonnes of reinforcing steel for the new clinic on behalf of Rendler Bau GmbH. The Ortenau Klinikum Achern will start operations in 2028 and ensure modern, patient-orientated healthcare for the region.
