A challenging replacement development spanning the Kiel Canal

The construction of the new Rader High Bridge across the Kiel Canal has resulted in a technically and logistically demanding infrastructure project. The project is one of the key transport projects in northern Germany and places high demands on planning, execution and material quality.

SÜLZLE Stahlpartner Lübeck supplied around 10,000 tonnes of reinforcing steel and the bolted connections using the Ancon system on behalf of Implenia. The complex bending shapes and the precise coordination of the connection elements presented particular challenges. As the project company, DEGES is responsible for the planning and implementation of the replacement of the Rader High Bridge. Work is currently underway on one carriageway. The second carriageway is expected to follow from the end of 2027.
